Pathfinder Repeating Crossbow M48 Cobra 80-lb Crossbow. Next automatic crossbow model we are going to review is the 80lb cobra self-cocking crossbow by the band M48. This one is great if you are already into crossbows and want something for professional hunting. This large crossbow is harder to load and more substantial than a regular crossbow, but it packs a greater punch.

You draw a heavy crossbow back by turning a small winch. Normally, operating a heavy crossbow requires two hands. However, you can shoot, but not load, a heavy crossbow with one hand at a –4 penalty on attack rolls. You can shoot a heavy crossbow with each hand, but you take a penalty on attack rolls as if attacking with two one-handed weapons. This penalty is cumulative with the penalty for one-handed firing.

Is there any Dex requirements for bow or crossbow, or strength requirements? Why am I seeing some ranged build that use something else than composite bow to have strength of over 15?
  2. You can load crossbows with blinding speed and even fire them in melee with little fear of reprisal. Prerequisites: Dex 15, Point-Blank Shot, Rapid Reload, Rapid Shot. Benefit: The time required for you to reload any type of crossbow is reduced to a free action, regardless of the type of crossbow used. You can fire a crossbow as many times in a full attack action as you could attack if you.

This ranged weapon has a bow-like assembly mounted on a handled frame called a tiller. The tiller has a mechanism to lock the bowstring in place, attached to a trigger mechanism that releases the tension and launches a bolt.
